Think Off 2.0 was an event with a multifaceted approach. The main competition was preceded by a series of 4 workshops addressing different aspects of argumentation, conducted by some of India's most accomplished university level parliamentary debaters. The competition meanwhile, was a bit different from last time, starting with 4 rounds of daily argument submissions, on various themes. The top 16 participants out of 50 received 1 on 1 mentoring by top university debaters which involved detailed analysis of their group-stage submissions, as well as mock practice rounds for getting them geared up for the final knockout stage. The knockout stage pitted 16 contestants in a 1v1 format, with participants submitting their response for their allotted side of the motion and then reading their opponent’s submission, after which they had to refine their own arguments as well as rebut their opponents’ arguments within a time limit. The new format was loved by both parents and participants alike, as they felt it gave a different competitive edge, and that the mentoring program gave exceptional clarity to the participants and helped them to sharpen their skills further. The top 4 students received cash prizes worth Rs 10000 and the next 4 students got discount coupons for future events. Much of the proceeds from the event went towards sponsoring education for the underprivileged in Gandhinagar.
