HELP US NURTURE GOOD LEADERS

Effective communication, critical thinking, awareness and oratory skills empower students to become good leaders. We think that debating fosters these skills among children and enables discussion of social issues, with the intent of acting towards their betterment.

The issue in detail

One of our major goals is to cultivate informed opinions and encourage questioning among the youth. We aim to spread a culture of critical thinking and socio-political awareness across the country through debating, which was only limited to a few cities earlier. Aiming to make debating accessible to children from different regions and socio-economic backgrounds, we build a self-sustaining culture in schools new to the activity, including teachers in the process too.

Our Major Milestones

ARC brought parliamentary debating to the West Zone in 2017, through workshops and selection tournaments for the Indian National Debating Squad. The first edition of the Ahmedabad World Schools Debating Tournament was conducted in 2017 by ARC and ISDS as a part of the selection process for the National Squad. Since then, we have organized multiple regional and zonal tournaments - starting in Gujarat and expanding to Rajasthan, followed by Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh in our 2020 online edition.

Every year, we reach out to more schools and introduce both students andteachers to the parliamentary format. Our trainers take intensive workshops across various schools as well as online, to enhance students’ argumentation, oratory, and persuasion skills. We take pride in having handpicked and mentored Manya Gupta and Aarushi Wadiwala who made it to the National Squad in 2018 and 2019, Manya going on to win the 2019 World Schools Debating Championships.
