Where it all began
ARC is an initiative started by a veteran Air Force officer -Wg. Cdr. Dharmendra Sharma. As someone who served the nation, he wants its citizens to not be blinded by rhetoric but to examine social issues critically and solve them.
Our founder was instrumental in planting more than 6000 trees in the new Air Force station at Vadodara, which was the start of his afforestation project. Along with the NGO Baroda Beautiful Council, he organized waste segregation and management in the late 90s, enlisting the help of rag pickers as well. After retirement, Wg Cdr. Sharma started by converting his own home into a zero-waste one and subsequently established A Responsible Citizen Foundation to carry forward his environmental conservation endeavors on a bigger scale.
Our co-founder, Abhilaksh, and the core team, having benefited immensely from debating in college, wanted to give back to the community by spreading a culture of critical thinking and debating among young students across the country and broadening their worldview.
