The West Zone Selections for the Indian National Debate Squad were conducted online in 2021
The West Zone Selections for the Indian National Debate Squad were conducted online in 2021, and saw the participation of around 150 students from 15+ schools across Gujarat and Rajasthan. Both the debate tournaments were preceded by workshops by the acclaimed Core Adjudicators Shruti Deb (2021 Australs ESL champion) and Tejas Subramanium (2019 WSDC champion) to acquaint the participants with the parliamentary debate format, speaker roles, and argumentation strategies. 25+ accomplished university-level debaters judged the debates and gave valuable feedback to the school students after every round. After 2 packed weekends of debates, 47 students from the West Zone were recommended for the next round of selections. Out of these, 11 students were shortlisted for the National Camp. Nishka Mehta, a 7th-grade student from Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Reliance School (Jamnagar) made it to the Indian Development Squad with help from our mentorship program.
