1st Ahmedabad Regional Tournament

Details

The West Zone Selections for the Indian National Debating Squad was conducted online via Zoom for junior and senior students.

The first edition of the Ahmedabad World Schools Debating Tournament was conducted by ARC Foundation and Indian Schools Debating Society at Gujarat National Law University, as selection to the Indian National Debating Team for the World Schools Debating Championship every year. 16 schools across the city participated in this format of debating for the first time, and the students spoke on a varied set of issues- ranging from the use of euthanasia and the associated ethical issues to the validity of negotiating with terrorists. The intensive training provided by nationally acclaimed debaters- Abhilaksh Sharma from ARC Foundation along with Arjun Vignesh and Sudarshan from ISDS- sharpened their argumentation skills. The top 12 speakers from the tournament were part of a comprehensive training workshop, with the most promising students being sent to the zonal selections.
